Welcome to the Cresswell, Blythe Colours and Johnson Matthey Archive
There are just two areas that require review and validation at the moment and these are.
1. The picture archive. 2. A list of people that worked at the site. For both there is the same golden rule: Do not assume that any of the details in either the list of names or the photograph descriptions or people identified in any photograph are correct. Challenge anything and everything if you think you are correct.
THERE MAY BE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WISH TO HAVE THEIR PHOTOGRAPHS SHOWN ON A WEBSITE OR THEIR NAME RECORDED AS HAVING WORKED FOR EITHER BLYTHE COLOURS OR JOHNSON MATTHEY. IF ANYONE HAS INFORMATION TO THIS EFFECT, PLEASE SEND AN URGENT REQUEST TO [email protected] SO THE IMAGE OR NAME CAN BE REMOVED. Options for the "Picture Archive" menu shown above
Periods indicated as "Ready" are ready for review, others are in the process of preparation so please ignore these until they are advised as "Ready". For some of the pictures, the people shown in them are fully identified in the description of the photograph itself, e.g. AP267-03 in the 1981-1982 period, however, there is a possibility that they are incorrectly identified or their names are incorrectly spelt. If you identify any of these errors, please use either the contact form at the bottom of each archive period or use the email address [email protected] to record your corrections, naming the photograph ID, the archive period, e.g. AP267-03 in the 1981-1982 period and the correction, e.g. front left, Mr John Smith. In others, the people are partially identified by their Surnames, but the Forenames are unknown, again there is a possibility that they are incorrectly identified, their initials are incorrect or their names are incorrectly spelt, again if you identify any details that are missing or incorrect, you can use either the contact form at the bottom of each archive period or use the email address [email protected] to record your corrections. Finally, there are a number of photographs where the people shown are recorded as being unrecognised or where there are just a lot of people in the photograph and there were too many to record at the time of taking. For these photographs there are a few options depending on your preferences and abilities,

This is a list that is very incomplete. The names in the list have been added from a variety of sources, each of which were not particularly reliable in the first place, such as names from a few very old memos, distribution lists, phone directories, Lotus 1-2-3 / Excel worksheets and personal memory. The known issues are (This is an early version of the list and is will contain a lot of errors),
Don't worry if the updates you have sent do not appear in the list immediately. The details you send in WILL be recorded, but the online list will only be updated periodically after several have been received and then will be uploaded together. Updates can be sent using the contact form at the bottom of the "Who "worked Here?" menu, or use the email address [email protected] |
